Next, the updates! I’ve written these in question form. Why? Who knows? It’s been a while since I’ve written a Substack, or shared anything personal or promotional online. Even my YouTube channel has been quiet - for the 17 to 20 of you eagerly awaiting Vlog #17, it’s in the queue, but I’ve been too busy to wrap it up and push it out. So, to return briefly to this strange world of “socializing” online, I’m warming up my mind by picturing how to open a conversation with me during a chance encounter. Here goes!
“Hey Dan, I heard you and Chelsea are getting married this month. Congratulations! How is your wedding planning going?"
[footnote: this is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me! I am so lucky and so excited!]
“Hey Dan, I heard you and Chelsea are going to Vietnam for your honey moon next winter. Wow! Have you started learning any helpful words or phrases, or how to navigate SE Asia yet?”
“Hey Dan, I heard that since you retired from Real Estate, all you do is teach music, play music, help out in the family soap business (!), and sit around the yard with the chickens. How is that possible?!?!?!?”
“Hey Dan, I heard that new album that you played on. They played it on KMHD and it was super weird! What shady back alley of the internet must I visit to legally obtain a copy?”
“Hey Dan, did you really start an instrumental experimental dub/jazz/tropicalgroove fusion band? Are you sure you can get it off the back burner this fall, and schedule some more rehearsals / jams / gigs / recordings?”
All great questions! If we run out of time on the set break, we can flesh out the details over coffee sometime. I’m looking forward to it!
