A Pot of Seasonal Jamz
Step into my office. Let's read some tunes from the X-mas fakebook. The weather outside is Spiteful!
Twas the night before Fish-mas, and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, not even the grouse.
Join in if you know the words, gang!
No joke, it’s a rare quiet evening in the office here. My kid is at her other house, and Chelsea is at a rehearsal, so it’s just me, Fluffy and the chickens here. After dining on Mama Ramen while strolling alone through The Cabinet of Dr Caligari on my laptop, I poured a rather strong hot toddy and set up a mic on my ancient, beat-to-hell mesa boogie amp. Here are the sounds of a weary soul practicing some X-mas tunes in the cozy comfort of a lonely office. It’s cold out there, and my drink is empty now, so after I hit “post” on this, I’m going upstairs and turning in early.
This is the first time I’ve ever put anything behind the paywall here. Here’s the deal: the first half of this practice session is for everyone, and the second half is for paying subscribers. If you are hard up for cash but want to hear the second half so you can transcribe every note, email me and I’ll share it privately. But the idea is this: in the modern world, a self employed musician should:
Teach
Gig
earn online dollars somehow.

The more I can earn by playing for arts patrons online, the more I can spend on studio time, camera equipment, plane tickets, and oh yeah, taking care of my needs and my family’s, too. Frida’s only seven, she’s not working yet.
Happy listening, friends. See you at our benefit show on Thursday evening! What’s that, it’s not in your calendar? You should bring your kids, its all ages until 9pm; here are the details:
